On days like this we definitely deserve a drink!
And if we're going to have a drink then let's make it fun!
This is not a classic sangria at all, but it's delicious and it has strawberries and spices in it. Soooo good and refreshing.
Ingredients:
10 large strawberries
1 bottle of dry white wine (750 ml)
Half a tablespoon of allspice
1 cinnamon stick
Teaspoon sea salt
Half a teaspoon of cloves (unground)
teaspoon of vanilla extract
4-6 stalks of rosemary (can be replaced with thyme)
A tablespoon full of brown sugar
3 tablespoons maple
40 ml orange liqueur / rum (optional)
1 bottle of cava
Preparation:
Wash the strawberries, cut in half and put it in a pot.
Add all the other ingredients except the cava.
Cook over high heat until the wine comes to a boil and transfer to a low heat.
Cook for another 15-20 minutes and turn off the heat.
Cool the sangria and let the flavors continue to evolve.
Wait at least an hour or two and then strain the sangria.
In a lowball / wine glass put ice, pour sangria down to half a glass and add cava to the end.
Garnish with fresh strawberries and rosemary.
Cheers!
